Diet/Exercise Report and Plans: Jan 2009

My theme for the first four weeks of the year was consistency. I should have been more specific. :)

I did NOT want my weight to stay consistent, but unfortunately that's what I got. I tend to fluctuate quite a bit from day to day, so I set up a spreadsheet with a five-day average to smooth out those wobbles. (I also tried using a ten-day average, and the result was the same, which is interesting.)

I lost 0.5 pounds in the first four weeks of 2009.

At least I didn't go up, but it is not the three pounds I wanted to lose. I think my exercise intensity is the problem: I did my planned workuts, and the Wii Fit strength ones were tough, but I'm not pushing myself hard enough on the cardio side most of the time.

For the next four weeks:
  1. I will again stick to the No S Diet. I think I'm getting better at it.
  2. My exercise schedule: long cardio (1-1.5 hours) Sunday, Wii Fit weights/yoga (40 minutes) Monday and Thursday, Cardio (45 minutes) Tuesday and Friday, Wii Fit yoga/balance (30 minutes) Wednesday, rest Saturday
I think the increase in the time and intensity of the cardio will help. I am again intending to lose three pounds in the next four weeks.

I've put my two tracking calendars back on the left-hand side of the blog, since having them in the original post seems to have stopped me remembering to update them!

Overall, I'm about 95% happy with my behaviour in the first four weeks and maybe 25% happy with my results. I'll aim to improve the first slightly and the second dramatically, and we will see how it goes.

I've also decided to blog daily for February, since I feel like I'm losing touch with the blog and the other blogs I read. So stay tuned! :)

I'm thinking about blogging everyday in February myself. I miss it.

Keep up the good work! If it makes you feel any better, you've inspired me to try the No-S thing myself, and I think it's actually working...

I just wish I was half as good as you at sticking to the exercise!
