My 101 in 1001 list: decision time!

I've been working on my 101 tasks in 1001 days list since February, and overall I really like the concept. I've done a bunch of things I wouldn't usually have tried, which is great.

Unfortunately, I also included a lot of "do this every day/week for xx days/weeks" tasks. These, I'm not enjoying so much.

I end up feeling like I've added yet another routine to my days, yet another thing I have to get done even if I don't feel like it (hello, laundry? talkin' to you!), yet another basic boring task to check off the list.

And I don't think the project was ever really intended to be that way. It's certainly not how I wanted it to be.

SO, I has the dilemma: do I slog through it until September 2010 and then make a new list, or do I revamp it now and reset the clock and have a new set of 101 tasks that make me feel excited and interested instead of "oh, geez, better check the 101 list to make sure I'm making progress"?

Wow, written out like that it feels obvious: redo the list! But I committed to it, and bailing out feels wrong. I'm working on making sure I fulfil all commitments I make to myself (I think I'm good on those to others, but I often weasel out of ones to myself and then feel guilty about it) and so I wonder if I should just do the list as it stands.

Since I'm actually getting blog comments (thank you, Ravellers! :) take a look at the current list and let me know what you think! :)

Wow, I'm impressed...I don't think I could keep up with 101 things to do....I feel like i have 101 things to do already! But kudos to you for actually doing it :)

Definitely wow. And I thought I had a lot of goals listed in my blog!

I guess it depends on how daunting it all feels, whether you should revamp or not. I mean if it's going to keep you from finishing or from doing another one later because you're unhappy then, imho, I would change it.

Go you for even starting. :)

I think you might be right, Laux... I think it IS keeping me from doing more. Not because it's daunting, but because it's dull! Will continue to ponder. :)

I too am impressed. I don't think I could come up with 101 things to do. I'd probably start coming up with really weird things, like, "Squash 50 bugs with my right foot and 25 with my left." or "stare at the sun for a full minute to see what happens."

I agree that I think that they're goals that are meant to shake you up and get you to do different things, not to make you get stuck in an icky routine that you don't like. So if it's getting to be too boring to do your daily ones, then revamp. Maybe make them only for a month or a week like some of your other ones. It would stink if you didn't get through your list because you're bogged down by the daily things!
