I've been relying heavily on online reviews lately, particularly Goodreads reviews. I did start reading a book reviewed on a blog recently, but found I really didn't care for the book.
I don't know if this helps or not, but I use the cover, title, size of print, and the first paragraph to help me decide if a book is right for me or not. Recommendations also help. I've read and enjoyed books I would not have picked up because they were assigned in book clubs or recommended by people I trust.

It is a wise decision to buy a book especially if one is in a research project for instance preparing for final exams. In this case, it can be said that investing in suitable materials vitalises one’s potential to grasp complex concepts. I found how beneficial it was to have a well-chosen book nearby when I am in need for dissertation help online.
